About Us
The year was 1958, Eisenhower was
President of the United States and Wayne Bruner of Columbus,
Ohio founded a little mechanical firm he called Bruner
Corporation. Business was conducted in a small cement
block building without computers, faxes and cell phones.
Wayne Bruner was a “hands-on, handshake-type contractor
from the old school, business was done with a handshake
instead of a contract.” Up until 1980 Wayne
did much of the work himself assisted by his 2 plumbing
service employees.
In 1980 Wayne Bruner was ready
for retirement and Bruner Corporation was purchased by
F. Randolph Sleeper, thus entering an age of change and
growth.
Sleeper’s immediate goal
was to build up the contract work. Some years later Mark
Wenger, now President, was hired to develop the Bruner
Service Division. Wenger recalls that, “There wasn’t
much to oversee at first, in fact we started with no technicians.”
Since 1980, under Sleeper &
Wenger’s leadership, Bruner has continuously focused
on company efficiency, growth and employee morale. All
this hard work has paid off as Bruner is consistently
recognized as a leading employer of plumbers and pipefitters
in Central Ohio and one of the most recognized mechanical
contractors in the area. Business First of Columbus
ranked Bruner Corporation as one of the largest mechanical
retrofit & HVAC service contractors in Central Ohio.
Since 1958 the world around us
has changed tremendously but Bruner Corporation continues
to be locally owned and operated providing complete mechanical
system services to businesses throughout Central Ohio
and the Midwest. From system design and evaluation
