The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the Company’s accounting and financial reporting, the development and improvement of internal control systems, and the leadership, supervision and development of staff responsible for accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, cost accounting, billing & collections, accounts payable and payroll.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Preparing and ensuring the timely reporting of all monthly financial information, including: financial statements, supplemental schedules and financial reports
Maintaining, analyzing and summarizing general ledger accounts
Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Performing daily banking requirements and monitoring daily cash position and cash flow forecast
Coordinating bank reporting and routine communications, working with CFO on asset funding strategy and facilities
Overseeing the monthly account reconciliation process 
Ensuring the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions
Administering and tracking compliance with all corporate insurance in coordination with CFO, including but not limited to office and job site contents, liability, Builders Risk, automobile and Worker’s Compensation
Managing the corporate and job cost budgeting process and update job cost detail reports as required to provide actual results
Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
Providing monthly budget vs. actual cost reports to management
Monitoring commercial terms of contracts and assuring compliance with billing process
Coordinating IS &IT strategy with company’s strategic plan, conducting quarterly strategy review with IT provider
Ensuring that all tax returns, financial reports, and registrations are filed in a timely manner
Working with third party auditor to ensure a clean and timely yearend audit 
Coordinating audits of 401(k) and health care plans
Coordinating filings of ACA information and compliance with reporting requirements
Monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Assisting in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department 
Advising staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions 
Managing Accounting staff by: providing training to new and existing staff as needed; establishing goals and objectives; monitoring progress; and advise on development needs professional development of staff
Supporting CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements
Establishing internal controls and audit procedures to ensure proper financial management

Knowledge, Skills & Education Qualifications:

Technical skills and education:
Have at least 5 years of construction accounting experience, including financial reporting/general ledger area
BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA preferred

Personal and organizational skills include:
Ability to communicate complex financial issues in simple, understandable terms
Highly motivated and able to work independently on routine tasks and duties
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Must be highly communicative and able to work in a team environment

Computer skills:
Microsoft Office Suite, advanced knowledge of Excel
Experience with ERP systems, preferably with construction accounting software such as Penta
